Love and Tradition: Daughter of Late GSU Commander Sing’oei Gets Engaged in Cherangany

Joy and celebration filled OsoRongai village in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County, as Mercy Chelimo, daughter of the late former GSU Deputy Commandant William Singoei, officially got engaged in a traditional “Koito” ceremony.


The colorful event, held today, marked a significant cultural milestone as Chelimo was formally engaged to Godwin Kiptoon. The ceremony brought together family members, friends, and relatives who gathered to witness and celebrate the union in accordance with tradition.


The late Sing’oei, who at one time also served as a commander of the elite Recce Squad and was a respected figure in Kenya’s security circles. He passed away in May 2021 during the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic.


The engagement ceremony not only honored cultural heritage but also served as a moment of remembrance and legacy for the family, blending joy with reflection.
