A Malaba based DJ has been found dead under the Kajei bridge in the outskirts of Malaba town.
The body of Daniel Ikapolok Karakacha, popularly known as DJ Marcos, was discovered under Kajei Bridge on Sunday morning under mysterious circumstances.
Until his death, DJ Marcos earned his livelihood as a loader at the Kajei Bridge stage, close to where his body was found.
His aunt, Nancy Okuche, said Daniel left home at around 7 a.m. to report to work as usual, unaware that it would be the last time his family would see him alive.
“Our son left home for his normal duties, only for us to receive the devastating news that his body had been found near the Kajei forest and dumped in a ditch,” she said.
Police officers who responded to the scene moved the body to Frapa Mortuary in Kocholia, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Okuche dismissed claims that the deceased may have suffered an epileptic seizure and fallen into Kajei Stream.
“We categorically reject that theory. DJ Marcos never had a history of epilepsy from childhood,” she said.
She, however, noted that the family did not see any visible injuries on his body.
Teso North Police boss Charles Chepkong’a confirmed the incident and said investigations have commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
“A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing,” Chepkong’a said.
DJ Marcos was the son of retired Olobai sub location Assistant Chief Tiberius Karakacha. He is survived by a widow and two children.
