Toddler Drowns in Bucket Accident in Timau

A family in Mukuri village, Timau, Meru County, is mourning the tragic death of a one year and three month old boy who drowned in a half filled bucket left outside their home.

According to police from Timau Police Station, the incident was reported on Sunday afternoon by the child’s mother, Josephine Kairuthia.

The deceased, identified as Aiden Bahati, reportedly fell into the bucket while at the family’s compound.

His grandmother, Teresia Kathabi, made frantic efforts to rescue him before he was rushed to Timau Hospital.

However, the toddler was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers visited and documented the scene before transferring the body to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
