A 28 year old man is receiving treatment in hospital after he was assaulted during a disagreement over a FIFA World Cup match in Nandi County.
The incident, which was reported at Kurugung’ Police Post on Wednesday occurred on the night of July 3 at Kibiesh Centre in Sarora Location, Nandi North.
According to the report, Sally Korir told police that her son, Hesbon Kipruto Meli, became involved in a quarrel with his friend, identified as Weldon Kipruto.
During the altercation, the suspect is said to have struck him on the head with a jembe handle which inflicted serious injuries on him.
The victim was rushed to Alpha Medical Hospital, where he was treated and admitted.
He remains hospitalised as doctors continue to monitor his condition.
Police said the suspect fled after the incident and remains at large but police have launched a man hunt for him.
