By Our Correspondent,Nyahururu

Members of the Mau Mau Veterans Association (MMV) today convened at Panari Resort in Nyahururu, where officials from the National Bank of Kenya (NBK), Karatina branch, assisted them to open bank accounts in preparation for anticipated compensation payouts.

Led by MMV Director James Mahuria, the veterans were urged to formalize their banking details to ensure smooth receipt of funds meant for families of freedom fighters who suffered or died during Kenya’s struggle for independence.

Mahuria emphasized that only veterans duly registered with the association would be eligible to benefit once compensation from the UK government is released.

He noted that the association has thousands of members spread across different parts of the country and announced plans to tour other regions to mobilize more veterans to open accounts with the bank, streamlining future disbursements and safeguarding beneficiaries’ interests.
