Microtrack Faulted Over Alleged Credibility Issues in Political Polls

An organisation identifying itself as Microtrack has come under scrutiny over claims that its political opinion polls in Kenya lack credibility and fail to meet expected research standards.

Several respondents who spoke to DNK-International questioned the reliability of the outfit’s findings, saying they had never encountered its pollsters conducting surveys in their communities despite the publication of various political opinion results.

The critics raised concerns over the methodology used in collecting data, arguing that transparent and credible polling requires clear information on sampling methods, geographical coverage and the process used to arrive at the final results.

Some callers said that they do not recognise Microtrack as a widely known polling agency and therefore have little confidence in its published findings.

Our efforts to contact Microtrack officials for a response to the allegations were unsuccessful by the time of publishing.
