Migori Chief arrested over alleged Sh3,000 bribery scandal

A chief from Suna West in Migori County has been arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe to facilitate a succession process.

The suspect identified as Samwel Otieno Mita, the area chief for Wasimbete Location in Suna West was arrested yesterday at around 5:00pm.

The arrest was carried out by EACC officers who allegedly found the administrator receiving Sh3,000 from a member of the public in exchange for facilitating a succession related process.

Police said the EACC officers recovered the Sh3,000 believed to be the alleged bribe money before escorting the suspect to Migori Police Station, where he was booked into custody pending further administrative action by the EACC office in Kisii.
