One suspect has been arrested as police pursue two other suspects following the seizure of 547.99 grammes of suspected cocaine at the Malaba One Stop Border Post (OSBP) in Busia County.
The drugs were discovered on Wednesday during a routine security screening of a passenger bus travelling from Nairobi, when officers found an unattended parcel inside the vehicle.
The bus driver reportedly drove off, leaving the passengers behind, before abandoning the vehicle about 300 metres away and fleeing on foot.

A multi-agency security team inspected the suspicious parcel and recovered eight pellets of a whitish substance, alongside an additional quantity packed in transparent polythene bags.
Preliminary tests conducted by the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) confirmed the substance to be cocaine weighing 547.99 grammes.
One suspect was arrested during the operation, while the bus was detained at the border post to facilitate investigations.
Police are pursuing the driver and conductor, who remain at large as investigations into the suspected drug trafficking incident continue.
