Police officer among three arrested over stolen hacksaw exhibit

Three suspects, including a police officer have been arrested in connection with the theft of a hacksaw exhibits from the exhibit store at Nyamarambe Police Station in Gucha, Kisii County.

In a follow up police report made at the station today morning,officers at the station acted on intelligence indicating that an individual was attempting to dispose of a stolen power saw at a throw away price of Sh20,000.

Police mounted an ambush at Getono Village on Monday night leading to the arrest of three suspects while allegedly attempting to sell the exhibit.

The recovered machine was identified as a Husqvarna 272 XP power saw, orange in colour which had earlier been reported stolen from the station’s exhibit store.

The arrested suspects were identified as:
Police Constable Raphael Muli, attached to Nyamarambe Police Station and reportedly the report office personnel on duty during the incident,Collins Korir an employee at Kenya Women Finance Trust Nyamarambe branch and Dennis Nyachae Mose,a businessman based in Nyamarambe Town.

Police said the recovered power saw has been secured as an exhibit, while the three suspects remain in custody at Nyamarambe Police Station pending arraignment in court on charges of store breaking and stealing.
