Police in Tseikuru, Kitui County, have launched investigations after unknown individuals broke into an assistant chief’s office in Ngalange Location and set important government records on fire.
According to police, the incident was reported on Sunday evening by Ngalange Location Chief Shadrack Momba.
Officers from Tseikuru Police Station responded to the scene and confirmed that the office had been broken into.
Among the documents destroyed in the fire were the birth register, death register, and a case agreements file.
Although the records were completely destroyed, the office building itself was not damaged by the fire.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
