A police sergeant is nursing injuries after being attacked by unknown assailants armed with clubs and blunt objects while on patrol in Mavoko, Machakos County.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at China Wuyi, sector five.
According to a police report, Senior Sergeant Moses Ndinia was attacked while stepping aside to relieve himself during patrol duties with a colleague.
The assailants inflicted a fracture on his left arm and soft tissue injuries to his head, arms, legs and chest.
During the attack, the officer fired two rounds of ammunition.
He was rushed to Veteran Hospital in Syokimau, where he was admitted and was awaiting to undergo a surgery process.
He is reported to be in stable condition.
Police said a further update on the incident would be provided.
