esidents of Bubiru village,Khwisero,Kakamega County under village elder Emily Magomere have raised alarm over the increasing snake menace at the only water source in the area, Mwirulo river, popularly known as Mushirula.
Speaking during a meeting held today, the residents lamented that they continue to risk their lives daily while fetching water from the river due to frequent snake sightings and attacks in the area.
The villagers accused Kisa Central MCA Handyman Saya and Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka, popularly known as “Aseka Miradi,” of neglecting the area despite earlier promises to drill a borehole and supply clean water to residents.
According to the locals, nothing has been done since the promises were made, forcing families to depend entirely on the dangerous river for domestic use.
Residents further claimed that the two leaders rarely visit the area to assess the challenges facing the community, warning that unless urgent action is taken, a catastrophe could occur through deadly snake bites as residents flee from attacks while fetching water.
The agitated residents are now demanding immediate intervention and fulfillment of the promised water project to save lives and ease suffering in the village.
