Tension briefly erupted on Saturday during the burial service of former Cabinet minister, diplomat and Lugari MP Burudi Nabwera after Kiminini MP Kakai Bissau attempted to stop Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya from addressing mourners.

The interruption was short lived, with Natembeya eventually proceeding with his speech.
The governor used the occasion to challenge President William Ruto to distinguish between development projects undertaken by county governments and those implemented by the national government.

Natembeya reiterated his commitment to the opposition, declaring that he would continue supporting Linda Mwananchi party leader Edwin Sifuna’s presidential bid ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The incident added a political dimension to the burial ceremony, which brought together leaders and mourners to pay their last respects to the veteran politician and diplomat.
