Toy pistols,balaclavas recovered in abandoned apartment in Thika

Police in Kiambu County have launched investigations after toy pistols and balaclavas were recovered from a rented apartment in Kiganjo Classic area,

In a report made at Kimuchu Police Station,the incident was reported on Thursday at around 4:30pm by Rebecca Wangu Mbuchu, a caretaker at Miida Apartments.

Rebecca told police that she was transferring belongings from Room Number 8 on the third floor to a store after the tenant, identified as Elvis Ndirangu, allegedly disappeared mysteriously and failed to pay rent for three months.

During the exercise, she reportedly discovered suspicious items hidden inside the room and immediately alerted police officers.

Officers who visited the scene conducted a search and recovered three black toy pistols, three balaclavas, and a portrait photograph believed to belong to the missing tenant.

The caretaker further informed investigators that Elvis Ndirangu was last seen in February 2026 before vanishing without notice.

Police have classified the matter as “Pending Under Investigation” (P.U.I.), with detectives from DCI Thika West taking over investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the recovered items and the whereabouts of the missing tenant.

No arrests have been made so far.
