Street Talk:Residents Tell MP Oyula Sh2 Million Burinda Water Project Is a Sham

Residents living around Burinda Chief’s Camp in Butula Constituency, Busia County, have protested over the state of an upgraded Sh2 million CDF water project, claiming it has failed to meet their expectations.

The residents accused the project of performing poorly, saying it takes up to two hours to fill a 20 litre jerrican due to the low water flow.

They argued that despite the investment, the facility has not eased the area’s persistent water shortage.

The frustrated residents have appealed to Butula MP Joseph Oyula to urgently intervene and ensure the project is repaired or upgraded to provide sufficient, clean water at a reasonable flow rate.

They said the poor performance of the water point has forced many households to trek long distances in search of water from the nearby Matodo River, exposing families to unnecessary hardship.
