A Chinese national aged 38, working for a road construction company in Konoin, Bomet County, has reported being assaulted by a colleague following an alleged workplace altercation.
The incident, reported at Konoin Police Station on Saturday involved Guo Qingjie, an employee of a road construction company operating in Kaptebengwet Location, and a 37 year old truck driver identified as Mathew Onyango.
According to a police report, Guo told officers that Onyango assaulted him after reporting to work while allegedly appearing intoxicated.
The Chinese national sustained injuries to his lips and was treated at Lexus Medical Clinic in Koiwa Market, where he underwent stitching inside his lips.
However, Onyango later presented himself at the police station, claiming that he was also a victim of assault.
He alleged that Guo and another colleague, identified as Fong, had struck him on an old surgical scar following a hernia operation he underwent two months ago.
Onyango complained of abdominal pain and was treated at Mogogosiek Dispensary before being referred to Kapkatet Subcounty Hospital for a CT scan to establish the extent of his condition.
Police reported that Onyango had no other visible injuries apart from the old surgical scar, although he appeared to be in pain.
He was directed to report back to the station after receiving further medical attention.
Officers visited and documented the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the altercation commenced.
The case remains under investigation, with the Officer Commanding Konoin Police Station handling the matter.
