Police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations after burglars broke into a government office in Rachuonyo North,Homabay county and stole computers and other electronic equipment.
According to police, the incident occurred during the night of July 20 at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection’s State Department for Social Development, Probation and Aftercare Services office located within the Deputy County Commissioner’s compound in Rachuonyo North.
The matter was reported to Kendubay Police Station by Jacob Ogola, the Head of Department for Social Development in Rachuonyo North and West sub-counties, accompanied by James Orondo, the Probation and Aftercare Officer for Rachuonyo North.
A team comprising officers from Kendubay Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Rachuonyo North, and Crime Scene Investigation personnel visited the scene and established that the office door had been forcibly opened using unknown tools.
An inventory revealed that the suspects made away with two desktop computers, one monitor, one CPU and two laptop computers.
Crime scene investigators documented and photographed the scene before collecting evidence to aid investigations.
Police have commenced investigations to identify and arrest the suspects, recover the stolen items and establish the circumstances surrounding the office break-in.
