Eye on African Forward Summit

Traffic Advisory, Nairobi:Plan for Heavy Delays and Road Closures in Nairobi CBD During African Forward Summit

Traffic disruptions are expected across Nairobi from May 10–12, 2026 due to the African Forward Summit.

Affected major roads include Mombasa Road, Lang’ata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, and Kiambu Road, where heavy delays and intermittent movement restrictions are anticipated throughout the summit period.

Beginning May 11, full or partial closures will affect sections of City Hall Way, Parliament Road, Harambee Avenue, and Taifa Road. Access on these routes will be restricted to authorized summit traffic and essential services.

Motorists are advised to: • Plan alternative routes in advance

  • Allow extra travel time, especially during peak hours
  • Avoid unnecessary travel into the CBD where possible
  • Follow all police traffic directives and temporary signage
  • Use public transport where convenient to reduce congestion

General Advisory:
Businesses, commuters, and delivery operators should prepare for delays around the CBD and key arterial roads. Emergency response and official convoy movements may also cause temporary stoppages without prior notice. Maintain patience and cooperate with officers deployed on traffic management duties.-Courtesy
