Safaricom and M-PESA Foundations have officially launched a nationwide quest to find Kenya’s most compelling visual storytellers during an event at Kisumu Boys High School. The initiative, dubbed the “Capture the Good” Challenge, seeks to move beyond traditional corporate narratives by inviting the public to document the real, tangible impact of social transformation across the country.

Inaugurated by Safaricom Foundation Chairman Joseph Ogutu, the competition invites a broad spectrum of creators—from seasoned professionals with high-end equipment to passionate hobbyists armed only with smartphones. The goal is to allow those who witness and experience community development firsthand to be the ones who frame its history through raw and authentic storytelling.

To guide the submissions, the challenge focuses on four primary thematic pillars that reflect the Foundations’ long-standing community investments:
Health: Visuals depicting healthcare access and resilience,
Education: Capturing the evolution of learning and empowerment.
Economic Empowerment: Stories of financial breakthroughs and community growth.
Environmental Conservation: Highlighting local efforts to protect Kenya’s natural resources.

The integrity of the challenge is backed by a diverse panel of industry experts, ensuring that the winning entries meet the highest standards of cinematography and photojournalism. Some of the jury includes:
