By Our Reporter,Karatina.

A third year student at Karatina University has been arrested in Nyeri County for allegedly impersonating a police officer, assaulting a government official and possessing government stores.

The 21year old, identified as Allan Barasa Wafula, was arrested on Monday by police officers from Gitunduti Police Station working alongside National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) during a foot patrol in the Kihuri area of Mathira East.

According to a police report, the officers intercepted Wafula after he was found in possession of government stores.

When challenged by the NGAO team, the suspect reportedly assaulted one of the chiefs with kicks and blows while claiming to be a police officer attached to Gilgil.

However, further questioning reportedly established that he was a third year student at Karatina University and not a police officer as he had claimed.

He was arrested and is expected to face charges of obstructing police officers in the execution of their duties, possession of government stores and assaulting a government officer on duty.

Police said the case was pending further action, with officers from Gitunduti Police Station handling the matter.
