The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has called for the suspension of Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Board Chairperson Charles Kamau Karondo over alleged involvement in political activities linked to the July 2026 Ol Kalou Constituency by-election.
In a complaint filed under Section 6D of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, the lawyers’ body wants the allegations against Karondo investigated, arguing that they disclose a prima facie case of gross misconduct.
LSK has asked ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo to consider the complaint and, if satisfied that a case has been established, refer the matter to President William Ruto for further action.
The Society is also seeking Karondo’s suspension pending the outcome of an independent tribunal tasked with investigating the allegations.
The complaint centres on claims that Karondo participated in political activities surrounding the Ol Kalou by-election, despite his position as chairperson of the board of the communications sector regulator.
LSK’s move now places pressure on the relevant authorities to determine whether the alleged conduct breached the legal and governance requirements governing the leadership of the Communications Authority.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and Karondo has not been found guilty of any misconduct
