Mau Mau veterans associates back education bill 2026 amendment

By Our Reporter,Kitale.

Mau Mau Veterans Associates have thrown their weight behind the proposed amendments to the Education Bill 2026, calling for their views and interests to be considered in the ongoing review of the legislation.

The association, through its CEO Emma Kasis, made its position known on Tuesday at Kitale National Polytechnic in Trans Nzoia County, where it presented a petition to the Parliamentary Education Committee.

The petition was received by Julius Melly, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Education Committee, who was accompanied by members of the committee during a public engagement exercise in the county.

Melly and his team are touring 30 counties across the country to gather views from Kenyans on the proposed Education Bill 2026 amendments before the legislation proceeds to the next stage of consideration.

The Mau Mau Veterans Associates said their participation in the process was aimed at ensuring that the voices of veterans and their communities are captured in the proposed changes to the education framework.

The presentation of the petition at Kitale National Polytechnic formed part of the wider public consultation exercise, which seeks to give members of the public an opportunity to make submissions and raise concerns over the proposed amendments.

The association urged the committee to consider the issues raised in their petition as it compiles views from Kenyans across the country.

The committee is expected to use the submissions collected during the nationwide exercise to inform its consideration of the proposed amendments to the Education Bill 2026.
