Police launch search for missing rifle magazine loaded with 15 Rounds in Migori

Police in Migori have launched a search for a missing rifle magazine loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition after the firearm was returned to the armoury at Migori Police Station.

According to a police report, the incident was reported on Saturday morning by Constable Collins Kipkoech to Sergeant Philimon Kosgei, who is in charge of the station armoury.

Kipkoech said he discovered that the magazine belonging to a Beretta rifle was missing while returning the firearm to the armoury after beat patrol duties.

He had been on patrol with ConstableaFrancis Mutisya a Mercy Wambui. Officers immediately mounted a search along all the routes they had followed during the patrol but were unable to recover the magazine.

A team of officers remained on the ground conducting further searches, with police expected to issue a progress report.

An inquiry file has been opened, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Suna East handling the matter.
