Political tensions between rival camps linked to South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and aspiring parliamentary candidate Dennis Makori, popularly known as “Sonko”, disrupted burial ceremonies and a planned fundraiser in Kisii County on Friday, leaving two people injured.
The incidents occurred in Nyatwoni and Mesocho areas of Borabu Getenga Ward, where rival supporters reportedly clashed during separate burial services.

Dennis Makori had also been invited to attend a harambee organised by the Sunset Group at Ekona, but the event was postponed after security officers intervened following heightened political tensions.
Police said the situation escalated when individuals allegedly allied to the MP lit a tyre along the Ekona-Murum Road, provoking members of the rival faction.
As efforts were made to contain the disturbance, two men, identified as Miombu Obara and James Nyambane, were stabbed by a suspect whom they claimed they could identify.
The victims sustained injuries to the left upper arm and right wrist respectively and were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
Police have launched investigations into the assault, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Etago handling the case.
