With the 2027 General Election fast approaching, the political landscape in Kilgoris Constituency is becoming increasingly competitive as several leaders position themselves to succeed at the ballot.
The growing list of aspirants has heightened political activity across the constituency, with public events now serving as key platforms for leaders to engage with residents and outline their development agendas.
The latest indication of the intensifying race was witnessed during a community empowerment fundraiser held at Oltanki Primary School in support of Olera Community-Based Organization (CBO).
The event was graced by President William Ruto aide Farouk Kibet who led the fundraising drive that raised Sh 7.5 million to support the organization’s development initiatives.
The function was hosted by the Kilgoris Member of Parliament, Julius Sunkuli and attracted a host of prominent leaders allied to President Ruto.
Among those in attendance were parliamentary aspirants Stephen Letoo,Ken Sile,Oiboo Morintat and Richard Ole Kelele all of whom are associated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Addressing the gathering, Kibet urged the aspiring leaders to begin preparing for the UDA party nominations, emphasizing the importance of building strong grassroots support ahead of the party’s nomination exercise.
His remarks were widely interpreted as a signal that competition within the ruling party is expected to be vigorous as aspirants seek the party’s ticket for the Kilgoris parliamentary seat.
The event also provided an opportunity for the aspirants to interact with residents.
New entrant Ken Sile appealed to the electorate to support his candidature, promising to bring development closer to the people through improved service delivery, enhanced infrastructure, and people centered leadership.
He emphasized the need for inclusive development that reaches every part of the constituency.
In addition to supporting the Olera CBO fundraiser, Kibet announced a personal contribution of Sh 500,000 towards the renovation of Oltanki Primary School.
The donation was warmly received by residents and school stakeholders, who welcomed the commitment to improving learning facilities for local pupils.
As political campaigns gradually gain momentum, Kilgoris Constituency is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched parliamentary contests in Narok County.
With several influential aspirants seeking the UDA ticket and campaigning on promises of development and improved representation, voters are expected to play a decisive role in determining the constituency’s future leadership.
The coming months are likely to witness increased political engagements, community empowerment initiatives, and policy discussions as the aspirants seek to win the confidence of the electorate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
