Tension Escalates Along Narok-Kisii Border as Hundreds of Youth Clash

Tension remains high along the Narok-Kisii border following clashes involving hundreds of youths from the Maasai and Kisii communities.

According to a situation report from Enoosaen Police Station, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

Area Chief for Olereko Location, David Musere, reported the incident to police, prompting officers to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers encountered an estimated 700 youths armed with bows, arrows and other crude weapons, who were engaged in violent confrontations along the border.

During the confrontation, approximately three acres of sugar cane plantation situated along the border were set ablaze.

Police officers managed to disperse the warring groups using teargas and blank ammunition.

Some of the youths are suspected to have sustained injuries during the confrontation, although the exact number and severity of injuries had not been established.

Security patrols have since been intensified in the affected area to prevent further escalation and restore calm.

Police said the situation remains tense, with officers maintaining a heightened presence along the border as investigations and monitoring continue.
