A motorcycle rider, his passenger and an eight month old infant were injured after a tree being cut near a road fell onto their motorcycle in Tigania East, Meru County.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at Nguthiru area in Athinga Athanja Sub-location as the rider, identified as Chris Koome, travelled from Karachi towards Muriri on motorcycle.
Police officers from Muthara Police Station visited the scene and established that the tree was being cut by Koome near the road without adequate cautionary signs to alert road users.
The injured victims were rushed to Muthara Sub-County Hospital, where they received initial treatment before being referred to St John Hospital for further medical attention.
Police have commenced investigations into the incident, which has been recorded as a case of reckless or negligent conduct.
