Uchaguzi 2027/281 days:Sakaja officially ditches UDA for ODM

By Our Correspondent, Nairobi.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has officially ditched the ruling UDA and joined the ODM where he is expected to seek re-election in the 2027 General Election.

Sakaja was formally received by senior ODM leaders, led by Deputy Party Leader and Kisii Governor Simba Arati, at the party’s headquarters, Chungwa House, in Nairobi.

His entry into ODM comes amid growing competition for the Nairobi gubernatorial ticket, with Makadara MP George Aladwa, who also serves as the party’s chairman, having declared interest in contesting for the seat on an ODM ticket.

The development sets the stage for an internal contest over the party’s Nairobi gubernatorial nomination ahead of the 2027 elections.
