Police are investigating an incident in which a confrontation between two groups disrupted a church fundraising event at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Loima, Turkana County.
According to a police report, the incident occurred on Sunday during a fundraiser attended by Loima MP Protus Akuja as the chief guest.

The function, which started at around noon, was disrupted at approximately 4pm following the arrival of Lavish Ewesit Ekamais, an aspirant for the Lobei-Kotaruk MCA seat and son of Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai.
Ekamais arrived in two vehicles, a Toyota Prado driven by Joakim Imoni, and a Land Cruiser driven by Mophat Erupe and accompanied by other people.
A confrontation reportedly erupted between the two groups, prompting National Police Reservists (NPRs) providing security at the event to fire into the air to disperse the crowd.
The incident forced the fundraiser to end prematurely.

Both Akuja and Ekamais l reported the incident at Lorugum Police Station under separate Occurrence Book entries.
Governor Lomorukai arrived at the police station accompanied by a large crowd to inquire about the incident involving his son.
He left the station at 11.07pm.
Meanwhile, the MP’s blue Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number KBN 200G, remained at the station after its front and rear windscreens were damaged by a suspected group.
The vehicle has been detained as investigations continue, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Loima handling the case.
